AHA Records: Most PIMs and PIMs/GP- Player

I’ve been meaning to since the creation of this blog to start having posts about various AHA Records. Most goals in a game by a team (by a player), best/worst record in a season, most goals/points in a season, etc… I need to just start posting about them as they come up. If you want to know any stat, feel free to post in the comments. At the recent AHA captain’s meeting, as well as a recent disciplinary committee, the topic of the AHA addendum came up regarding the 40/60/80 rule where you’re suspended 2/3/4 games. It got me thinking, not only would it be hard to get 80 PIMs within a 20 game season, but considering you’d also serve 5 games for hitting 40 and 60 as well, it’d be really hard to hit 80 PIMs within 15 games. I wondered if anyone within the AHA history has hit it (at least since 2011/2012 winter season)? (Thankfully) No one has received 80 PIMs in a season, though we have had some heavy PIM recipients.

Fall League 2017, Fall Tournament 2017, + mid-season Winter Season 2017-2018

It’s been awhile since the last update, but it’s finally here. I always try to get this update out at around the mid-point of the winter season, but well, life and stuff. Most teams have played 12-14 games and the playoff picture is starting to shape up. I’ll do my best to do another update after regular season is done, but before playoffs hit us the first week in April.

I’ve updated the Fall League 2017, Fall Tournament 2017, and the Winter Season 2017-2018 as of about February 8th, 2018.

Summer 2017 Stats + 1st games of Fall League

AHAers,

A quick update that includes the remaining regular season games for Summer 2017, all of the Summer 2017 Playoff games, and Game 1 of all the Fall 2017 League Teams.

Les Etoiles du Nord Empire will be at the upcoming AHA Bloomington Fall Tournament, with all three teams (C1/C3/D1) participating. Come by and say hi. We’ll also be up at the AHA Duluth Fall Tournament later in October. Always a great time, see you at Grizzlies!

Belated Update: Winter 2016-2017 Playoffs, Spring 2017, partial-Summer 2017 Stats

I meant to update stats before Summer League got started, but better late than never. Enjoy using it to scout some new players or relishing in past glory.

I’ve updated both the Team Standings and Player Statistics spreadsheet with the Winter 2016-2017 Playoff games, Spring League 2017, and Summer Games posted as of this evening (8/5/2017).

Winter 2016-2017 Regular Season Update

Player Statistics Update

I got distracted this weekend working on some new Macros to automate the process of updated the Player Statistics sheet and exporting it. I got it in a good place now, and I’ve learned (I think) some more VBA programming stuff. Anyways, without further ado, the updated Player Statistics spreadsheet:

As with the Team Standings spreadsheet, these stats are updated to games posted as of March 18th, 2017. It looks like the last game is March 29th, so I’ll probably be able to update both spreadsheets with all of the regular season games finished and posted that weekend… just in time to do some scouting before the playoffs start the next week.

Please provide any feedback (Ideas/Bugs/Etc..) and continue spreading the word within the AHA hockey community.

Big Model Updates (Team Standings Spreadsheet)

AHA Data Geeks,

C3 West is done playing games and Les Etoiles du Nord C3 has an amazing 24-day break until Game 1 of playoffs. In other words, I got nothing better to do that open up Excel this weekend.

I’ve updated the Team Standings to games posted as of March 18th, 2017. I plan on updating one more time right before playoffs once all teams have finished their regular season games.

Mid-Season Winter 2016-2017 Update II

It didn’t take too long to update the Player Statistics spreadsheet. Enjoy using it to scout your opponents in the second half of the winter season and to make that final push to lock-in a playoff spot. AHA Captain’s meeting is next Tuesday, so we should know the cutoff for the playoffs and the details.

Model Updates (Team Standings Spreadsheet)

You may have noticed some new options in the latest version of the model. I ended up playing around with things and I am excited to show off some of the new updates. The new model now allows you to easily compare your team to every team in AHA no matter what division or what season. For example, filter on ‘Winter Season 2016/2017’ and turn ‘off’ divisions and you can then sort by various stats to see the leaders in all of AHA so far this Winter Season:

• Least Shots For / Goals For (i.e. Accuracy of Shots or it takes X shots to get 1 Goal)
  • Summit (A Division) with 5.22 SA/GF
• Most Shots Allowed / Goals Allowed (i.e. Accuracy of Stopping Shots or it takes X shots to allow 1 Goal)
  • Saints (C1 Division) with 14.00 SA/GA
• Most Shots For / Game
  • Outlaws (B1 Division) with 42.33 SF/G
• Least Shots Allowed / Game
  • Troopers (D2 Division) with 20.00 SA/G
• Most Goals For / Game
  • Summit (A Division) with 7.09 GF/G
• Least Goals Against / Game
  • Spartans (C3 Division) with 2.08 GA/G
• Most Goals For / Goals Against (i.e. You get X goals for every 1 goal you allow)
  • Moose (D2 Division) with 3.04 GF/GA
• Most PIMs / Game
  • Summit (A Division) with 13.27 PIMs/G 
• Least PIMs / Game
  • Polar Bears (D2 Division) and Moose (D2 Division) both with 2.18 PIMs/G

 

Update Notes:

• Added ability to turn on/off Sub-Division breakouts (e.g. East/West/South/North)
• Added ability to turn on/off Division breakouts (e.g. A/B1/B2/B3/C1/C2/C3/D1/D2)
• Added ability to turn on/off Seasons (e.g. Winter 2014-2015/Winter 2015-2016)
• Updated ‘Clear Filters’ button to also reset the new breakout buttons
• When Divisions or Seasons breakouts are turned off, Team Name now displays the division and/or season
• Added League (e.g. Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter) filter
• Fixed ‘Print Area’ glitch so there’s not blank pages at end
