Big Model Updates (Team Standings Spreadsheet)

AHA Data Geeks,

C3 West is done playing games and Les Etoiles du Nord C3 has an amazing 24-day break until Game 1 of playoffs. In other words, I got nothing better to do that open up Excel this weekend.

I’ve updated the Team Standings to games posted as of March 18th, 2017. I plan on updating one more time right before playoffs once all teams have finished their regular season games.

Excel Spreadsheet: AHA – Historical Stats – Team Standings – 2017.03.18.xlsm

More importantly, I have made the following updates and added the following new features to the model:

  • Fixed glitch with sorting by team name (before it sorted by first 3 characters, now it’s actually sorting)
  • Updated formatting: boarders, column sizing, print area, and reorganized top cells
  • Renamed headers GF/G, GA/G, GF/G, GA/G, PIMS/G headers to be more clear as /GP
  • Added Header Key with descriptions
  • Modified PIMs to be PIMs-R for Penalty Minutes Received i.e. perpetrator of a penalty
  • Added PIMs-E and PIMs-E/GP for Penalty Minutes Earned i.e. victim of a penalty
  • Added PIMs R/E for the ratio between Received (Perpetrator) and Earned (Victim) PIMs (Low # = Classy, High # = Hacks)
  • I would welcome ideas of naming conventions to better differentiate PIMs-R and PIMs-E
  • Added Shot% – Team Shooting Percentage (GF/SF)
  • Added Save% – Team Save Percentage (1-SA/GA)
  • Added SF/SA – Shots For Per Shots Against Ratio (High # = Outshoots Opponents, Low # = Gets outshot by Opponents)

Tomorrow, I plan on updating the Player Statistics model to games posted as of March 18th, 2017. No plans for any new features, but would welcome any ideas. My next big project is I want to do AHA Records and do them by division and in total for AHA for Teams and for players.

Until next time,

– Anderson (#27)
